This Management Plan summarizes current knowledge on the Upper Niger National Park: its ecological and socio-territorial aspects in the context of Upper Guinea, the systems of exploitation of natural resources, the constraints that prevent their sustainable management and the evolution of the context compared to the first management plan (1998-2003).

On this basis, it redefines a management strategy based on the same principles of participatory management, based in particular on a “heritage” vision of the forest, by integrating new proposals: the establishment of an “eco-functional” zoning and a legal/legitimate consultation scheme, the systematic establishment of a negotiated “win-win” approach, the systematic establishment of a negotiated “win-win” approach, and support for the implementation of microprojects resulting from this approach.
