Module 9 (Series B): Integrating gender issues into the development and implementation of national biodiversity strategies and action plans.

This module explains how to integrate gender equality into NBSAPs. Part 2 provides a brief explanation of the concept of gender mainstreaming and gender mainstreaming by showing their links to well-being and the eradication of poverty, as well as an overview of the Convention's mandate in this regard. Part 3 describes four general goals that planners can aim for and five specific actions that planners can take in order to make the mechanisms and products of the NASPB gender-sensitive. The module complements and builds on the document “Guidelines on integrating gender equality into national biodiversity strategies and action plans” (CBD Technical Paper No. 49) and contains information provided by Parties in their fourth national reports and NBSAPs (including those submitted up to May 2012).
