IUCN—The World Conservation Union

Founded in 1948, the World Conservation Union brings together states, public bodies and a wide range of non-governmental organizations in a single global alliance: more than 1000 members in some 140 countries. The mission of IUCN, as a Union, is to influence, encourage and assist societies around the world to maintain the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that all use of natural resources is equitable and environmentally sustainable. In order to safeguard natural resources locally, regionally and globally, the World Conservation Union relies on its members, networks and partners, building their capacities and supporting global alliances.
