Module 8: Biodiversity planning in states, provinces, cities, and other local authorities: how to develop a sub-national biodiversity strategy and action plan.

This module looks at the role of states, provinces, cities, and other local authorities and sub-national entities in implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, and in achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets. It explains how sub-national biodiversity strategies and action plans can be strategic instruments for achieving these goals. By presenting a number of case studies, the module illustrates the great diversity of subnational experiences and approaches, at different geographic and administrative scales.
