Mangrove silvicultural rules
The wooded mangrove is a fragile environment, in which it is necessary to intervene with great caution, taking into account physical conditions that vary widely from site to site.
Timber cutting, if careful, does not compromise the wooded condition: opening small holes or removing stems foot by foot in the stand, felling Rhizophora above the stilts to promote vegetative regeneration. A strong ability to reject is observed in young Rhizophora subjects. In areas subject to heavy exploitation, characterized in particular by the opening of large holes that remain open over a long period of time and by successive and close passages of wood cutting, the regeneration of the mangrove is very difficult, especially as far as Rhizophora is concerned.
