Exploring concepts related to protected areas
Protected areas are the fundamental components of national and international conservation strategies. Internationally, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) offers guidelines for different governments to use an international reference system to address and address issues related to their network of protected areas. This organization recognizes six categories of protected areas, some of which are considered to be more stringent (limited human activities and no exploitation of natural resources) and others more open to the presence of humans and to the sustainable use of natural resources. Recently, the government has clearly expressed its desire to anchor its network in the IUCN categories.
