Disaster Risk Management Strategy in Africa
Every year, countries in the West Africa and Sahel subregion are victims of natural disasters such as drought, floods as well as transboundary animal diseases, economic crises and civil conflicts. These events lead to the loss of life and the destruction or weakening of people's livelihoods and therefore the weakening of their food and nutritional security. The frequency and increasingly complex nature of these crises requires a holistic approach that integrates actions aimed at strengthening crisis preparation, prevention and mitigation of risks through effective and rapid responses and interventions that facilitate the transition to a condition of stability and development.
