The Déré forest with a total area of 8920 ha, formerly called “Black Forest” because of its rich flora and fauna and the numerous waterways that water it. This forest is adjacent to that of Tiapleu (Côte d'Ivoire) and affects the sub-prefectures of N'Zoo and Tounkarata (Lola Prefecture).

Nowadays, it is in a very worrying situation in the face of multiple unauthorized human activities: logging, agricultural activity and poaching, etc.
