The conservation program of the BirdLife International Partnership is organized around four main themes, all interrelated — species, sites, habitats and populations — and on the basis of which, the organization initiates actions to protect avian species, preserve Important Bird Areas (IBAs), preserve habitats, strengthen support for conservation efforts and empower people to live sustainably. At the site level, one of the approaches used in the framework of actions aimed at the protection of IBAs consists in the promotion of viable local groups, involved in the conservation of biodiversity and called — Site Support Groups (GSS).
