DIWASI Park Wildlife Inventory from 5 to 18 January 2012

The DIWASI Park is an area of 104,000 hectares, located in the heart of the Kankan Nature Reserve, in Upper Guinea. It was born from the will of French people from Haute-Savoie, Albert and Sylvie Clapasson, who, in collaboration and partnership with the Guinean state, are anxious to protect and preserve a heritage that is still natural, but threatened. Poaching, deforestation, regularly ignited bushfires, wood harvesting, and regular human presence within unauthorized boundaries have driven out or caused some of the great wildlife to disappear. Despite awareness-raising campaigns, mentalities, eating habits, and especially hunting, which is almost permanent, are difficult to manage and change. At the same time, to support local populations, various projects, such as drilling wells and installing pumps, the creation of various vegetable production groups, soap, etc., were able to be created thanks to an NGO; NON NOBIS (Not for us) created locally
