Memorandum on the DERE forest
The Déré forest is the 3rd central area of the Nimba Mountains Biosphere Reserve, with a total area of 8,920 ha, was formerly called “black forest” because of its rich flora and fauna and the numerous waterways that water it, including the Ni, Goué and Déré. This forest is adjacent to that of Tiapleu (Côte d'Ivoire) and affects the sub-prefectures of N'Zoo and Tounkarata, in Lola Prefecture.
