Fishing and Smoking Project: Report 1994-1995
Fishing and fish smoking are part of the daily concerns of the populations in the project area. The practice of smoking with traditional smokehouses (carved shaft and viewpoint) requires a considerable quantity of mangrove wood. For this purpose, to satisfy smoking needs, it is mandatory to cut mangrove wood repeatedly.
In light of the multiple awareness-raising sessions conducted in its area and the requests made by the population itself, the project is committed to reducing wood consumption, by introducing the improved smokehouse of the Chorckor type.
