First report on hunting sampling in the Upper Niger National Park
The function of bush animals is to provide an important source of protein in many countries in Africa, south of the Sahara (A JAYI 1971, 1983; A DEOLA & D ECKER 1987). Where hunting is traded, its products can be observed and counted on the markets of the region. These data provide the first knowledge of the impact of hunting activity on hunted species (F A et al. 1995). In this way it is possible to collect data on the dynamics of the use of bush animals and on their exploitation (C OLYN et al. 1987; K ALIVESSE 1991) and from this, G EVAERTS (1992) draws attention to the fact that it is possible to obtain information on their biology.
