Law enforcement is one of the most debated issues on the international forestry scene today, and in some countries, illegal forest production is overshadowing legal production. Illegal land clearing leads to serious problems of deforestation and forest fires. And illegal trade tarnishes the image of all forest products in some regions. Urgent measures are needed to crack down on forest crime. The aim of this publication is to facilitate the transition from the theoretical examination of these problems to the design and implementation of concrete solutions.
