This document on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Fisheries was developed to provide information and advice on the use of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the context of fisheries. As the implementation of MPAs in the field of biodiversity conservation evolves, there is a need for many people who believe that fisheries aspects are not fully understood or addressed in this sector. These Guidelines address MPAs from the point of fisheries management and biodiversity conservation, while providing assistance to MPAs with multiple objectives.
