During the first phase, the Regional Programme for the Management of the Watersheds of Upper Niger and Upper
Gambia, during the first phase, focused these interventions mainly on reducing the pressure
on natural resources, their conservation and improvement.

It is also appropriate, in the near future, to consider new ways and means of
valorizing the natural heritage of the areas of intervention, also in order to further improve
the relationship between population and natural resources, which could pass through an increase in these living
conditions based on them.

This is how a study was able to identify: the existence and the use of products that are
still little known or poorly exploited.
